~ Michelle Clarice Huffman, J.D. ~
Attorney Michelle Clarice Huffman has resided in the State of Oklahoma for over 30 years. She graduated from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma where she double majored in Psychology and Political Science. She then attended the University of Oklahoma College of Law to pursue a law career. She successfully earned her Juris Doctor and passed the Oklahoma Bar in 1995.
Because of her strong desire to help those in need, she first joined the Tulsa County Public Defender's Office. She represented many children in deprived, delinquent, adoption & guardianship matters. During her time with the Public Defender's Office, Ms. Huffman had many successful jury trials and handled numerous appeals to the Supreme Court of Oklahoma. This experience earned her the skills and knowledge to help many children in Tulsa County. She was a member of the National Association of Counsel for Children and obtained a block grant worth $100,000 with the U.S. Department of Justice to provide Juvenile Division Staff appropriate equipment. She also lectured extensively on child testimony and earned recognition for exemplary volunteer service as a trainer for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA Program).
In 2005, Ms. Huffman then joined Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma and worked to help elderly and low-income clients with civil matters including family law & consumer issues, as well as advising on criminal law issues. Ms. Huffman knows first-hand what a difference a strong advocate can make when navigating the legal system.
After leaving Legal Aid, Ms Huffman began her solo practice, when shortly thereafter, she joined the Alvarez de Bennett Law Firm. Due to her own passion to help those in need of fair representation, she was immediately impressed with the tenacity and commitment of the firm towards their clients. Ms. Huffman brings to the Alvarez de Bennett Law Firm a needed general law practice to the firm. She is experienced in handling both criminal and civil matters with a focus on criminal, juvenile, and family law. She is also working on her Spanish speaking skills and always welcomes the opportunity to learn and converse in Spanish.
Most of all, Ms. Huffman shares the same passion to care about her clients like the rest of the team at Alvarez de Bennett Law.
Ms. Huffman is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association and the Oklahoma Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. She lives in Tulsa with her husband and two daughters.
